The construction of the hotel began in 1888 as a private investment of the young mayor Hinko Bačić: it was on an ideal location, at the end of Louisiana road, right next to the new riverbed of the river Rječina, along the hundred-meter-long promenade to the sea. In the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, this magnificent building stood out for its appearance, becoming the pride of the people of Sušak. Thanks to the opening of a café a bit later, it became a cult gathering place. Time has taken away its reputation, brilliance, prominence. The artistic concept re-examines the feeling of sentimentality and, often, the recognition of a deserved importance to persons or objects in moments when they no longer exist. Playing with words as a suggestion that the hotel as such will no longer exist, with a simple clickbait, the author points out the importance of the oldest hotel in Rijeka, one of the most culturally and historically significant buildings in Rijeka, making us aware of its presence. In addition to the video, the paper includes 2 articles entitled “Continental turns off its lights” and “Continental closes its doors”. Articles whose titles suggest the closure of the hotel to the public are also an invitation to the exhibition in which this work is presented. The articles were published on the website of the Croatian National Television.
